These terms cover your use of IT Pro Insights (itproinsights.com). The site is
written and published by Thorsteinn Halldorsson as an independent, one-person
technical publication.
Acceptance
By reading, downloading from, or otherwise using this site, you accept these
terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.
Using the content
Articles here are published so that IT professionals can read them, learn from
them, and apply them at work. You may read, print, and share links to anything on
the site, and you may quote short extracts with attribution and a link back to the
original article.
What you may not do without written permission: republish articles in full or in
substantial part, whether on a website, in a newsletter, or inside a paid product;
present the content as your own; or scrape the site in bulk for the purpose of
republication or model training. Using an article internally at your own
organisation — sending it to a colleague, pasting a procedure into a runbook — is
fine and is what it is for.
Code samples
The code, commands, configuration files, and scripts printed inside articles are
offered under the MIT licence. You may use, modify, and ship them, including
in commercial work, with no obligation to credit this site — though the licence
text does need to travel with substantial copies, and the warranty disclaimer
below applies to every line of it.
This applies only to the snippets inside articles. The site's prose, images,
diagrams, and the software that runs the site are not covered and remain
copyrighted.
No warranty — run it at your own risk
This is the part to read twice.
Everything here is provided "as is", with no warranty of any kind, express or
implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a
particular purpose, or non-infringement.
The procedures published here change real systems. They create and delete
resources, alter identity and access configuration, change network and firewall
rules, and modify tenant-wide policy. Cloud platforms also change underneath
published guidance: a command that is correct against one API version can be
wrong, or destructive, against the next. Many articles carry a "Tested
against" line naming the exact product, API, CLI, and module versions the steps
were checked against — treat that as an expiry label, not a guarantee.
You are responsible for what you run. Read any command before executing it,
understand what it changes, test it somewhere that does not matter first, and take
a backup you have actually restored from. Never paste a procedure from this site
— or any site — straight into a production tenant.

Articles link to vendor documentation, standards, repositories, and other
third-party resources. Those sites are not under our control. We link to them
because they were useful and accurate when the article was written; we do not
endorse them, we cannot vouch for what they publish later, and we are not
responsible for their content, availability, or their handling of your data.
Affiliate links
No affiliate links are currently used on this site. If that changes, every

Advertising
This site shows display advertising served by Google AdSense, and it measures
traffic with Google Analytics 4. Both load in a denied-by-default state under
Google Consent Mode, and advertising cookies are set only after you choose to
allow them in Google's consent message. What Google receives, what is stored, and
how to change your choice are all set out in the
privacy policy.
Advertisers have no input into editorial content, and no advertiser sees an
article before it is published.
Intellectual property
The articles, images, diagrams, layout, and site design are the property of the
author and are protected by copyright, except for the code samples described
above and for third-party material used under its own licence (where that is the
case, the licence and required attribution are shown with the material).
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the author is not liable for any loss or
damage arising from your use of this site or of anything published on it. That
includes, without limitation, service outages, data loss, corrupted or deleted
resources, security incidents, lost profits, and lost business — whether or not
the possibility of such loss was foreseeable.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, and nothing in
these terms affects the statutory rights of a consumer.
Changes to these terms
These terms may change as the site changes. The current version always lives at
this URL, and material changes are reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Iceland, and the courts of Iceland
have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. If you are a consumer, this
does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory law of the country you
live in.
