IT Pro Insights is funded by advertising, and we measure how the site is used. This page explains, in plain language, what runs when you visit, what it stores on your device, and how to change your mind. The full privacy notice is in our Privacy Policy.

The short version

  • We show ads from Google AdSense and measure traffic with Google Analytics 4.
  • Before you make a choice, both start in a denied state: no advertising or analytics cookies are set, and only anonymous, cookieless signals are sent to Google.
  • Your choice is collected by Google's Privacy & messaging (Funding Choices) consent message. Accept, decline or change it any time with Cookie settings in the footer.
  • Our own visit counter uses no cookies at all. The fonts on this site are served from this site, not from Google.

Advertising: Google AdSense

We display ads through Google AdSense on article pages and the blog index (not on archives, search, policy pages or error pages). Google receives your IP address, browser details and the page you are viewing, and, if you consent, may set cookies to choose ads, limit repetition and measure performance. If you allow personalization, Google may use the profile it already holds about you; that profile is Google's, not ours. See how Google uses data from sites that use its services, and manage personalization at adssettings.google.com.

Consent management: Funding Choices

The consent message is Google's Privacy & messaging tool (Funding Choices). It follows the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework v2.2 in the EEA and UK, and Google's US states framework (IAB GPP) in the United States. We do not show a second banner of our own when it is active. Choose "Cookie settings" in the footer to reopen it.

Consent Mode v2

Every Google tag on this site is told, before it loads, that all four consent signals (ad storage, analytics storage, ad user data, ad personalization) are denied. Until you choose otherwise, those tags do not read or write advertising or analytics cookies and send only cookieless pings. When you accept in the consent message, the signals are updated to granted.

Analytics: Google Analytics 4

We use Google Analytics 4 (through Google's Site Kit plugin) to see which articles are read. It runs under Consent Mode as above. With analytics consent it sets the cookies listed below.

Our own visit counter

To report approximate daily visitors and page views to our dashboard, the site counts requests on the server. It does not set a cookie or write anything to your device. A daily "have we counted this visitor" check uses a one-way hash of a shortened network address (the last part of your IP address removed), your browser's user-agent string and the date; the hash is kept for 24 hours and your full IP address is not stored in the counters. Visits from the site owner, bots and automated checks are excluded.

Fonts

The Space Grotesk heading font is hosted on this site. Loading a page does not contact Google Fonts.
